Oh, wow. I really like that painting. The subject matter reminds me of the paintings of Mary Cassatt, and how so many of her images portrayed women doing things like reading newspapers, contemplating the world, etc. (The very things other painters were not granting women subjects.)
My mom would be pleased to hear that. So many of her paintings portray women: I have paintings of women at the vanity stand, women on the beach with umbrellas, etc. They are lovely.
Annie Proulx once saw a sign warning of mountain lions: "Do not make direct eye contact; try to appear as BIG as possible." While some people might say this describes the wide world of blogging, it is quite the opposite of what I hope to do.
